Discuss Your Requirement →What is a ball valve used for?
A ball valve is a quarter-turn isolation valve used to stop, start or direct the flow of gases and liquids in instrumentation, process and industrial systems. Ball valves are widely used where reliable shut-off is required, including high-pressure service, corrosive applications and air distribution systems.
Why choose Fluidline ball valves?
- Fluidline Group range from ¼ inch to 10 inch flanged valves; confirm Zambian availability with FSZ
- SS316 stainless steel as standard
- BSP & NPT threaded options
- ISO 5211 mounting options; verify actuator interface and operating torque
- Selected high-pressure models; confirm the exact pressure-temperature rating
- Fire-safe, vented and special alloy options
- EN 10204 Type 3.1 certification as standard; Type 3.2 must be requested before manufacture
Why Ball Valve Selection Matters
Ball valves are often viewed as simple isolation devices, yet selecting the correct valve type, pressure rating, seat material and connection configuration can significantly influence system reliability, maintenance requirements, safety and long-term operating performance.
Different applications require different valve designs. Factors such as pressure, temperature, media compatibility, actuation requirements and maintenance access should be considered during valve selection to ensure reliable service life and system integrity.
Ball Valve Types and Configurations
Fluidline supplies a comprehensive range of ball valves including:
- 1 piece, 2 piece and 3 piece threaded ball valves
- 3 way and 4 way ball valves
- Direct mount ISO 5211 valves
- Flanged ball valves (ANSI150 / ANSI300)
- High pressure and ultra-high-pressure ball valves
- Vented ball valves for air header manifolds
- Special alloy and high temperature valves
Stainless Steel Threaded Ball Valves
Threaded ball valve options include SS316 bodies, R-PTFE seats and BSP or NPT connections. Confirm the selected model’s materials, seat limits, pressure-temperature rating and compatibility with the actual medium.
Vented Ball Valves for Air Header Systems
For air-header branches requiring downstream venting, specify a valve designed for that function. Confirm the model’s vent path, orientation, discharge destination and isolation procedure. A cavity-vented ball is not necessarily a downstream bleed valve.
High Pressure Ball Valves
High-pressure valve options vary by model, size, body material, seat and temperature. Confirm the exact pressure-temperature limits in the applicable datasheet. PEEK, TFM and Delrin are distinct seat options; they do not share a universal pressure, temperature or chemical-service rating.
Flanged, Fire-Safe and Special Alloy Ball Valves
- Flanged valves: ANSI150 and ANSI300 options
- Fire-safe valves: API 607 compliant
- Special alloys: 904L, Duplex, Super Duplex, Hastelloy, Monel
- Metal seat valves: for high temperature service
Certification and Quality Assurance
EN 10204 Type 3.1 certification is standard for this product range. Type 3.2 certification must be requested before manufacture.
Fluidline ball valves undergo testing to recognised industry standards including API 598, API 6D and API 607 where applicable. Material traceability, pressure testing and certification options are available to support industrial, EPC and project quality requirements.
Typical Applications
- Instrumentation systems
- Process plants
- Gas and fluid systems
- Air header manifolds
- Mining and power plants
- Chemical and petrochemical industries
Need Help Selecting a Ball Valve?
Fluidline supports customers with selecting the correct valve based on pressure rating, media compatibility, temperature, connection type and application requirements.
Whether you require a threaded instrumentation valve, flanged process valve, vented air header valve or high-pressure isolation valve, our team can assist with selecting the most suitable solution for your application.
Pressure ratings, materials and certifications depend on the selected valve model and operating temperature. Confirm the applicable datasheet and documentation with FSZ when ordering.
Frequently Asked Questions
What types of ball valves do we supply?
1 piece, 2 piece, 3 piece, flanged, high pressure, vented, multi-way, actuator-ready and special alloy ball valves.
Do you supply stainless steel ball valves?
Yes, SS316 stainless steel is standard across most of the range.
Are BSP and NPT options available?
Yes, both BSP and NPT threaded valves are supplied.
Do you supply actuator-ready valves?
ISO 5211 mounting options are available. Confirm the mounting dimensions, stem interface, required torque and any coupling or bracket needed for the selected actuator.
What are vented ball valves used for?
They relieve trapped pressure and are mainly used on air header manifolds and distribution systems.
What pressure ratings are available?
Pressure ratings depend on the selected model, size, materials and temperature. Ask FSZ for the applicable datasheet for the actual duty.
Are fire-safe valves available?
Yes, fire-safe valves compliant with API 607 are available on request.
Do you supply special alloy valves?
Yes, including Duplex, Super Duplex, Monel, Hastelloy and 904L.
